Fancy an EV Van?

A newcomer to the EV market in Malaysia is a fully electric van with a starting price of RM130k. Curious? What does RM130k get you?

Cute right?

The CAM EC35 is an 80hp, 200Nm fully electric van with a range of 266km brought in by Sendok Group. The van is essentially a rebadged Dongfeng Sokon Automobile (DSFK) model. The Klang based Sendok Group say that they are targetting logistics and courier service companies looking for a cleaner alternative.

As a matter of fact, it measures at 4500mm long, 1680 mm wide, 1985mm tall and with a cargo area measuring 2550mm (long), 1480mm (wide) by 1280mm (tall), competes with current similar sized panel vans like the Nissan NV200 and Daihatsu Panel Van.

A 38.7 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery is what powers the CAM35. In addition, to charge it up takes around 8 hours (from 0% to 100%) via its CCS charging port while 20% to 80% takes a more respectable 5 hours at 6.6kW AC charging. Besides, DC charging is faster at up to 40kW with stated charging times reduced to about 80 minutes (20% to 80%) and 2.5 hours (0%-100%).

Furthermore, driver airbag, ABS, EBD and parking sensors are among the safety features that are available on the EC35. A backup camera and an 8-inch touchscreen are standard equipment in the CAM35.

What is your take on the first EV panel van offered by CAM? Do you see your fellow abang rider/delivery zipping around silently around your neighbourhood or do you feel the range is too short? Let us know in the comments down below.
