The Hyundai Ionic 5 is a unique retro-modern EV by Hyundai. Based on a flyer released by a Hyundai dealer (Sing Kwung Premium), seems like the launch of the Ionic 5 is imminent. Paultan also reported it might launch as soon as March.
First and foremost, fhe Ioniq 5 is no doubt a looker with its unique retro-modern design cues (inspired from their Hyundai Pony Coupe from 1974). The Ioniq 5 launched in a few variants, namely 58 kWh and 72.6 kWh variants. It is also said that the variants will be named similar to its crossover EV sibling, the Kona with its Lite, Plus and Max variants.
What about power figures? The global variant of the Ioniq 5 with 72.6 kWh comes with either 215 hp/350 Nm (160 kW) single-motor rear-wheel-drive, or a 302 hp/605 Nm (225 kW) dual-motor AWD system. 0-100 km/h time of 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 185 km/h does sound good for a compact hatch no?. The stated range is 430 km on the WLTP cycle (for the high spec variant).
Pricing is still unknown but based on estimations, should put the Ioniq 5 around RM200k. Higher than its crossover sibling.
